Etsy Project Embrace - Fundraiser for American Cancer Society

Growing ...
Do you know about Etsy Project Embrace? "EPE" is a wonderful effort by an ever increasing number of Etsy sellers to raise funds for the American Cancer Society in honor of our friend and fellow Etsian Laura Slocum, who is courageously (and cheerfully) battling ovarian cancer.
      Growing ...
Etsy Project Embrace keeps growing and growing, as the word spreads and more and more sellers and friends join the fight for Laura and all others stricken with cancer. Participating sellers have listed more than 600 items for the project, donating all or a portion of proceeds to ACS, and contributions now top $1,600.  Our goal is $2,000 -- so we're getting there fast!
       Growing!
This is a lovely project, bringing together Etsians and others from all over the world.

If you're a seller and would like to participate, just add "etsyprojectembrace" to the tags for any item you'd like to add to the project, and in your description tell what portion of your proceeds you'll donate to ACS.  It's as easy as that!

If you're a buyer looking for EPE items, choose "All Items" from the drop-down menu at the top of the Etsy page and type "etsyprojectembrace" in the search box.  Or click the following link:  http://www.etsy.com/search_results.php?search_type=all&search_query=etsyprojectembrace&order=date_desc&ship_to=

And remember -- wear your teal ribbon!

"Flo" - The Mysterious Fainting Angel

Here's "Flo" (Florence Nightingale Finnigan II) our pretty angel fish.

Several days ago, Joe found Flo dead on the bottom of the aquarium.  LOL.  So we turned off the power to the tank, and I reached in to remove the corpse.  As soon as I took hold of her dorsal fin, she started wiggling and gasping.  And when I let go, she started swimming.

We couldn't figure it out, but Flo seemed fine till the next evening -- when we saw her drifting horizontally and I told Joe, "This time she really is gone."  So, off goes the power, in goes the hand ... Flo wiggles, gasps, swims away.

Again, she seemed fine -- till two nights ago.  I walked up to the aquarium just in time to see Flo take a flying leap out of the water, bang her "nose" on the glass tank cover and knock herself cold.  Joe said, "She's gone for sure this time."  Nope.  In less than a minute, without any assistance (i.e., interference) from us, she's wiggling, gasping, swimming ...

And she's swimming still and perfectly happy ... till the next time she decides she'd like to be a bird.

Which reminds me of the day the downy woodpecker flew into our living room window ... but that's another story.

New Designs - Copper Jewelry for Autumn

Three new copper designs for autumn.

I'll add links as soon as they become available in my Etsy Shop.  Meanwhile, please check my online shops to see what's currently available, or email me for details:  info@roughmagiccreations.com.
  • The first is an all copper bracelet, featuring hammered copper starfish, double discs, and wrapped links with African trade beads.
  • The earrings combine hammered copper maple leaves with red Czech glass beads and serpentine rondelles.
  • The third is a copper bracelet with open circles and wrapped links beaded with crazy lace agate.
I gave the starfish, discs and leaves a pretty heat patina and handcrafted the clasps and earwires.
